
Why search engine marketing is required: a look backward
Twenty years ago if you asked someone what is meant by the term "search engine marketing, the answer you would get might be a blank stare and perhaps a tentative answer on using engines to market something? These days, however, the answer would be quite different.
Marketing search term was first proposed by Danny Sullivan, editor of Search Engine Land (a blog covering news and information on research engines and marketing) in 2001 as a term to cover all relevant activities. With Google constantly evolving and maturing, more in addition to search traffic has been diverted from the engines to take advantage of its search results more relevant and accurate. Google now controls on average 80% of online search traffic the United Kingdom.
With this important line of the engine, it is not surprising that the demand for search engine marketing has increased alongside her.
